By Keshelle Kerr:
Welcome to the 2nd issue in the series 'Playing by the Rules and Winning the Game'. My goal is to share with you six out of the twenty four Creative Wealth principles that are taught in my programs that can be used to teach your children while they are young and of course, teach yourself as well. The first principle is to "Pay Yourself First". If you have missed that column, feel free to contact me. Creative Wealth principles are simply the rules to the Money Game. If you want your children to win the game of life and money, they have to know, and play by, the rules. Its your job, to ensure that they are given those rules.
Here's Rule #2: Financial Freedom is Your Choice!
Financial freedom is a do-it-yourself project, for the most part. Yes, some people inherit money. Yes, some people win the lottery sometimes. Yes, some people even find money.
For the most part, however, money is something you have to earn for yourself and financial freedom is something you have to choose and then figure out how to make happen.
The only problem is that most of us were never taught that we actually had to 'choose' it for ourselves. Many people don't even realize it's a possibility for themselves. This is where the idea of empowering others comes into play. Imagine it this way...
Let's say you went into a store and were very hungry. You want to buy a loaf of bread and yet you only see one shelf that has the same type of bread you've been buying and eating your whole life.
What if, on the other side of that isle, there are 10 more shelves with all kinds of different breads available, but you just don't know it's there? You don't even realize it's a possibility.
It's often said there are three realms of knowledge:
* The stuff you know you know (purple).
* The stuff you know you don't know (green).
* The stuff you don't know you don't know (white).
Exposing someone to the idea that they can be financially free sometimes is all it takes for that person to choose it for themselves and make it come true. This is what we mean in our programs, and in our mission by..."Empowering others to be responsible for themselves and the world."
Empowering human beings with information, skills, knowledge, drive, motivation, purpose... it takes all this to help someone go from where they are to where they'd rather be, if they don't like where they are right now, that is.
So, financial freedom is your choice, not just an illusive dream. Your children, too, can be financially free, if they choose to be.
Give your children the opportunity to choose how they want their life to look. Then, help them to take responsibility for creating that life. Help them to take a few steps toward it every day.
No one is going to do it for you or your children, therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that your children receive these lessons while they are young.
Why do you choose for your children to be financially free?
Stay tuned for Principle #3
