AML has confirmed its intention to go ahead with its eighth Dominos Pizza location in the western area of New Providence this year gearing up to launch online ordering and follow international moves to revamp its ingredients.
"It's basically a new taste profile, which has been very favorably accepted by focus groups in the U.S.," Shervin Stuart, AML's executive vice-president, told Guardian Business. "We are looking at new locations for two new stores, but we're planning on going further out west and we're presently looking at a location for this year in another area in New Providence.
"We intend to open up our eighth store this year."
The franchise currently has seven locations in New Providence and two locations in Grand Bahama.
While business has been fairly constant in the last year, Stuart asserted moves like improving its product would go a long way in positioning the company to see an increase in sales in 2010. His confidence comes as the company is in the process of testing a new online ordering technique, something that is about to launch not only for the pizza franchise, but also for its Cost Right grocery store.
"We are about to launch that very shortly actually," said Stuart. "Whenever we introduce new products or even new ingredients, we see an increase in sales [and] we feel the same will apply with this new product we're introducing."
He said the company was also not worried about competition entering the market in the form of Marco's pizza, assuring that it was something the company normally expects and factors in to its daily operations.
"Whenever new competition enters the market, there would be a novelty period or honeymoon period," Stuart added. "Sometimes it's short or sometimes it's extended, but it's definitely something we can expect.
"But we continue to remain very focused on our brand and remain very aggressive in terms of the marketing initiatives and the service and the quality of product we provide to consumers."
