New forensic firm in town

By Inderia Saunders ~ Guardian Business Reporter ~ inderia@nasguard.com

A Caribbean accounting firm is extending its arms in The Bahamas, with the new Krys Rahming and Associates Limited planning to secure a fair share of the market from a rise in the demand for fraud specialists.

"A lot of things are happening in the offshore sector," Managing Director Ed Rahming told Guardian Business. "A lot of companies are taking a hit and are going into insolvency [and] at the same time there's a pickup in fraud work usually during these times... fraud and misappropriation.

"And we are the only ones in The Bahamas that are led by individuals with the international experience, with the background and the contacts in the international arena."

The Bahamian firm will be dedicated to corporate recovery, insolvency, forensic accounting and business advisory services. The firm maintains a strategic alliance with Krys and Associates Ltd., which has offices in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The firm's network is currently considered to be one of the largest independent group of firms in the Caribbean focused on insolvency, forensic accounting and litigation support services.

Rahming said the timing was perfect for the move to The Bahamas, given the increase in ponzi schemes and the need for detectors in the last several years.

Kenneth Krys, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Krys and Associates Ltd., said the new firm will be a great fit for the company.

"The strategic alliance with Bahamas complements the services and products we are currently providing in Cayman and BVI for our financial services clients," he said. "I personally know and have worked with Ed when he was in Cayman and know of his commitment to quality service and creative thinking."

The firm expects to be fully operational with full staff levels within a month.
