More than $1 million is up for grabs for 100 students serious about becoming chartered accountants, Professional Certificates Bahamas (PCB) has announced.
Candidates will be required to attend classes full time for three years. In the first year participants will receive a scholarship equivalent to 50 percent of the fees for the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) program.
Students who maintain the scholarship by passing each examination on the first attempt while pursuing the CAT will be awarded a further scholarship for 100 percent of the fees for the Associate Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) professional scheme. Similarly, students in the professional scheme will also have to pass each examination on the first attempt to maintain the scholarship.
Terence Bethel, president of the PCB, said: " It is hoped that through this endeavor a paradigm shift would occur where graduates take full advantage of the broad acceptance and recognition of the ACCA brand. Thus gaining the international exposure by working in any of the over 160 countries around the world where the ACCA is represented. At PCB our students are trained locally to compete globally."
PCB was established in June 2000. It is the first and only institution in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas to provide instruction for qualifications offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
The ACCA is largest global accounting body in the world and trains students in International Standards in Auditing and International Financial Reporting Standards.
The ACCA Certification is recognized by the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) as a valid route to becoming a Chartered Accountant.
