|Sea Bees set to host Winter Invitational|

The Sea Bees Swim Club will hosts its ‘Winter Invitational’, on Saturday, February 11, at the Betty Kelly Kenning National Aquatic Centre.
The meet will begin at 9 a.m. and is co-sponsored by Apex Awards Signs and Engraving.
“We are excited to host our first swim meet of the 2011/2012 season,” said Lucas Leite, coach of the Sea Bees. “The meet promises to be an exciting one as we will be hosting mixed relays which are always thrilling.”
The club had to postpone its fall meet due to the aquatics center not being operational, but the club’s swimmers are eagerly waiting to “jump in” at the Olympic-size pool.
“Our swimmers have not had as much time in the water due to the cold weather recently, but we have compensated with land training and that has proven to be a success. A number of our swimmers swam personal bests in the swift meet recently, so we’re confident they will perform well next week,” said Leite.
The meet will also feature a number of the club’s Learn-to-Swim participants who have moved up to the competitive group and will be competing for the first time.
“We want to expose our new swimmers who are just getting into competitive swimming by competing in one of their own meets which we feel will be beneficial to them,” said Keith Lloyd, head of the club’s Technical Committee.
The Sea Bees Swim Club placed second in the June 2011 Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Nationals which was no small feat considering the club was one of the smallest Nassau-based clubs to compete with less than 55 swimmers. The club has produced swimmers who have represented The Bahamas in notable meets such as CARIFTA, the FINA World Junior Championships and the Youth Olympics.
The parent-ran club is coached by Lucas Leite and it trains at The College of The Bahamas. For more information, the public is asked to visit the club’s website at www.seabeesswimming.com, or its page on facebook.
