Coca-Cola hopped on board with the National Family Island Regatta Committee to sustain one of the most anticipated cultural sporting events of the year, the 59th National Family Island Regatta in Georgetown, Exuma.

“Coca-Cola looks forward to the annual Family Island regattas. They’re a wonderful tradition that benefit our Family Islands and reinforce our heritage,” said Donnisha Armbrister, marketing manager, Caribbean Bottling Co. (Bahamas) Ltd., the local distributors of the brand.

As the regatta season quickly approaches, preparation is in high gear to commemorate this year's spectacular event.

“This event continues to grow in popularity and we are extremely proud of its permanent place on local and international calendars,” said Danny Strachan, chairman and commodore of the National Family Island Regatta Committee.

This year, the 59th annual regatta is being dedicated to Mark Knowles and Leslie “Buzzy” Rolle. Both of these astounding gentlemen have contributed greatly to the growth and development of sloop sailing in The Bahamas. Not only does the National Family Island Regatta encompass a fun-filled week bursting with excitement, but the regatta itself presents a unique opportunity to partake in Bahamian history – a history that every islander should be proud of. The regatta is set for April 24-28 in picturesque Elizabeth Harbour, Georgetown, Exuma.

The next regatta on the sailing calendar is the 25th Annual St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. That event is set for this weekend at Montagu Bay.
