Perry Christie has been sworn in as The Bahamas’ fifth elected prime minister after leading his Progressive Liberal Party to a historical win in Monday’s general election. After his oath of office ceremony at Government house, the new prime minister addressed the nation and thanked the people of the Commonwealth for their confidence in voting him and his party into power. Having previously served a term as prime minister from 2002 to 2007, Christie takes on the task of tackling the many issues grappling The Bahamas; from crime to rising unemployment rates. During his speech Prime Minister Christie vowed to “leave no stone unturned in pursuit of a better and brighter future for The Bahamas”. |
