Eagles Nest pulled off a 40-35 victory over Temple Fellowship to secure a rematch with the defending champions, Macedonia Baptist, in the Baptist Sports Council's (BSC) Basketball League's 15-and-under best-of-three championship series.
It was the lone game played on Saturday at the Baillou Hills Sporting Complex before rain washed out the start of both the 15-and-under and 19-and-under championships, as well as the completion of the men's semi-final series.
Alvano Miller broke loose for 14 points, including a pair of three pointers, to help seal the victory for Eagles Nest, on Saturday. Lakeen Merlander added four points. Tamico Coakley had 14 in a losing effort.
Last year, Macedonia clinched its third straight title with a 2-1 series decision over Eagles Nest. The two will clash again for the title on Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. Macedonia swept St. John's No. 1 in two straight games to earn their berth into the final. Immediately following, Macedonia No. 1 will take on Eagles Nest in the 19-and-under championship, starting at 11 a.m. Pennant winning Macedonia advanced by eliminating Golden Gates in two straight games and Eagles Nest had to go three games before they ousted Macedonia No. 2.
While the finalists have been determined in those two series, the BSC will continue with the men's semi-finals on Tuesday night. At 7 p.m., last year's runners-up Hope Center will try to finish off the ‘B’ Division pennant winners St. Mark's in the second game of their series. At 8 p.m., the second game between the defending champions Temple Fellowship and the pennant-winning Macedonia team will be played in the ‘A’ Division.
If necessary, the third game in both series will be played on Thursday. If there is a sweep in the two series, the first game of the championship will be played on Thursday. However, if there is a third game in any of the series, the championship will start on Saturday at 12 noon.
