A 17-year-old male was shot to death two days before his birthday after a friendly dice game took a turn for the worse on Saturday, his family said.

Police said the victim, who was identified as Joshua Rolle, was killed around 8 p.m. on Quakoo Street, between Market and East Streets.

Police said the circumstances surrounding this incident were unclear.

However, according to Rolle’s family, he was shot during a gambling game.

He died just a few feet away from his Lily of the Valley Street home, where he lived with his stepfather and mother.

The victim’s stepfather Leonard Chea, said Rolle leaves behind a young son.

Chea said Rolle worked on Paradise Island as a Jet Ski operator.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the person responsible for the shooting.

Anyone who may have information on the latest murder is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 328-TIPS or Central Detective Unit and 502-9991.

Rolle’s death brought the country’s murder count up to 67 for the year so far. This time last year, the murder count stood at 61.

In a separate matter, a 16-year-old male was in hospital after he was stabbed multiple times about the body on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Officers attached to the Mobile Division were on routine patrol in the area of East Street and Andros Avenue when they discovered the injured male, police said.

Emergency medical personnel took him to hospital where he was detained in stable condition, police said.

Police were questioning a 17-year-old male of East Street in connection with the incident.
