A young man was reportedly stabbed to death yesterday, becoming the 68th murder victim for the year. According to the police the incident occurred around 6 p.m. in Union Village. The victim, who The Guardian understands is 22-year-old Jevon Mullings of Union Village, got into an altercation with another man, resulting in both of them receiving stab wounds. Both men were taken to hospital, where Mullings succumbed to his injuries. The Guardian understands that Mullings was hit in the head with a bottle and stabbed after reportedly walking away from the fight. In another incident, two young men were shot in their legs on Nassau Street around 8:30 p.m. Monday. The scene was crowded with curious onlookers trying to glimpse the scene and the bullet casings which were still on the ground when The Guardian arrived. According to a relative of the victims, the young men ran into her home with gunshot wounds after playing basketball on Christie Park. “When I looked I heard my grandson scream out “Oh, grammy something hit me”,” said Diane Bullard. “And when I looked I saw all the blood trailed in the front room and my son said ‘I got shot too.’” Her son, 23-year-old Carlton Bullard, and grandson 14-year-old Oswald Stubbs were transported to hospital by emergency medical services personnel. |
