A woman yesterday denied that she made up an indecent assault complaint against a doctor after he disciplined her for mismanaging a patient’s care. The woman refuted claims by attorney Murrio Ducille that she and her friends had fabricated the story to “get” Dr. Lynwood Brown, who is being privately prosecuted in relation to indecent assault by her lawyer Romona Farquharson. The alleged victim and two of her coworkers made serious allegations regarding Brown’s conduct in the break room at Doctors Hospital on September 7, 2010. The complainant, who was fired from the hospital in March 2011, claimed Brown grabbed her breast. One of her coworkers claimed Brown told her “breasts looked good for sucking” and the second coworker alleged that he tore open her shirt. The woman who made the complaint told Magistrate Guillimina Archer that she overheard the emergency room physician telling a nurse (the first co-worker) that her breasts looked good when she came into the break room around 1 a.m. The woman said she told Brown his remarks were disrespectful and he told her, “Your breasts look good too” before reaching over and grabbing her right breast. The complainant, who is seven months pregnant, recalled, “I hit his hand down. I told him I am not his wife and he is not my husband and he shouldn’t be doing things like that.” The alleged victim said Brown told her she was “too touchy” when she told him she was going to report him. The woman said she complained to police, the hospital’s administration and her husband. The woman denied suggestions that she made up the complaint because Brown reported her for failing to administer an IV to a patient who had complained about tightness of the chest. She laughed when Ducille suggested that she told Brown he “would lose his job too”. Ducille said, “You take this for a joke?” She replied, “It has to be because that’s not true.” The woman said the groping incident occurred hours before the patient came into the hospital. The first co-worker testified she was in the break room when Brown had told her breasts looked “good for sucking”. She claimed that he went and pulled open the blouse of the second coworker. She said Brown started making his comments again after the virtual complainant came in the room. The first coworker said the woman told him he was being disrespectful. The first coworker claimed Brown said, “Don’t feel left out” and grabbed the woman’s breast. The second coworker also claimed to witness the incident and confirmed that Brown allegedly tore open her shirt. The woman said she did not make a complaint because she was “only a patient care technician and he was doctor”. The second coworker said she was reluctant to get involved because she feared for her livelihood. Both of the virtual complainant’s coworkers said they were close friends with the complainant, who said they only had a working relationship. They also said no patient was in the emergency room when the incident occurred. The case continues on July 4.
