Two men were charged yesterday with seven counts of armed robbery against tourists within the last month.

Stephen Greene, 20, of Gamble Heights, and Anthony Greene, 19, of Flamingo Gardens, appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez.

They were not required to plead to the armed robbery charges.

They are accused of breaking into the Wyndham Nassau Resort hotel room of Jospeh Martino on November 11 and stealing $11,000 in travelers checks and two Rolex watches.

They are accused of using a Taser to rob Jeremy Hughes of $60 on November 20.

They are also accused of using a Taser to rob Kate Szafran of a $5,000 Chanel watch on the same day. Anthony Greene was charged with receiving the watch.

The men were also charged with the December 13th armed robbery of Michael Kowalski. Police said they used a knife to steal Kowalski’s iPod and $40.

Both men were remanded to Her Majesty’s Prisons until May 15, 2013 when they will return to court to have a voluntary bill of indictment served to them.

These type of crimes happen all over the world, not just the Bahamas. Crime has no Address...how are you SHOCKED that this has happened or is going on? Not condoning it, but please stop with the condesending tone, like the entire Bahamas is condemned because of this incident. I live in DC and this happens everyday throughout. Bottom line, you will always have crime...GEESH

As a tourist to Nassau for many many years, I am shocked that this type of crime is going on. I have always stayed on Cable Beach and considered it a very safe area. Hopefully these are isolated events. If not, people just won't choose Nassau/Bahamas.

Taking discipline out of the school, young parents have children and not teaching them values and principles, Society turning their back and not giving the police information that can help solve crime cases all contribute the increase in Crime in the Bahamas. It is so sad.
