The Bahamas Down Syndrome Association and Center recently launched its documentary “Don’t Look Down Look Up” at New Providence Community Church.
The documentary has been presented to Prime Minister Perry Christie and several members of his Cabinet.
The film was created to help sensitize Bahamians to Down syndrome.
In September 2011 the association opened a classroom and office to provide a special learning space for younger children. There are now eight children in its early intervention program receiving an education and therapies.
In July 2012 the association launched an adult program for those who were merely at home and in need of engagement. This program includes math, English, reading, writing, cooking, art and music, along with outings to the grocery store, bank and other field trips.
