Church matriarchs to be honored

Three women who are considered to be matriarchs of the church and who have dedicated their lives over the years to the service of God through the ministry of Calvary Deliverance Church will be honored at a special service on Sunday, May 5 at the church located at East Street south.
Pastor Dorothy Moss, a founding member of the church who once served as senior associate pastor; Minister Brenetha Whyms who is also a founding member of the church and who served as a mentor to younger women in the ministry and Minister Leanna Brown who is known as the great motivator is a former president of the women’s ministry at the church. Together they have given over 88 years of service to the ministry where the senior pastor is James Newry.
The service will bring together friends and family members of the honorees who will pay tribute and celebrate their lives and ministry. Bishop V.G. Clarke, senior pastor emeritus of Calvary Deliverance Church will speak at the service.
Worship services are held at the church at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays with Bible study sessions at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
