A man was arrested yesterday after a death threat against Minister of State for National Security Keith Bell, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson.

Ferguson said the man was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Dodge Road after a complaint was made that death threats were on his Facebook page.

He said police were looking for the man from Thursday night.

When asked if he would face charges, Ferguson said, “Obviously we view the report as a serious case.

“So it is very likely.”

He said the man was arrested without incident and was being held at the Central Detective Unit (CDU).

Commissioner of Police Ellison Greenslade said yesterday police take threats of death very seriously.

“This cannot be ignored,” he told The Guardian.

“We take this seriously.”

He added that police will enforce the law.

When contacted for comment, Bell confirmed that he made the complaint to police. “I asked the Royal Bahamas Police Force to follow this matter as it is a serious threat,” he said.

“I have taken action for the safety of my family and myself.”
