A woman was struck dead by a truck while crossing Cowpen Road on Tuesday night, police said.
The victim was identified as Louis Paul, 32, a resident of Unison Road, off Carmichael Road.
According to police, Paul was walking across the street in the area of Spikenard Road and Cowpen Road around 8:40 p.m. when a 1994 gold Ford F-150 traveling east struck her.
Paul’s death pushed the traffic fatality count to 29 for the year. Her death marked the 10th traffic fatality on New Providence this year, police said.
Police are urging motorists throughout The Bahamas to adhere to the traffic laws.
The country recorded its 28th traffic fatality last Thursday in Grand Bahama, when a man was struck down on Queen’s Highway, east of the Fishing Hole Road.
Police yesterday identified the man as Godfrey Nolan Cooper Jr., 27, a resident of Freeport.
Police found Cooper’s body in the street after receiving a report of a traffic accident in Eight Mile Rock. The incident reportedly occurred around 11 p.m.
