Captive insurance adviser addresses insurance industry briefing

The Insurance Commission of The Bahamas (ICB) in collaboration with the Bahamas Financial Services Board (BFSB) hosted an industry briefing yesterday in the Governor’s A Ballroom of the British Colonial Hilton Hotel in downtown Nassau.
The industry briefing provided an opportunity for the regulator to update industry participants on its risk-based supervisory regime for the captives sector.
Peter Strauss, managing member of The Strauss Law Firm, also brought remarks. Strauss is a co-director of a recently approved SAC. He will speak on insurance sector developments generally and also the factors in their decision to establish operations in The Bahamas.

Strauss regularly speaks at public seminars and professional society meetings such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), National Advisors Trust Company, Physician Hospitals of America (PHA), Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) and Hawaii Tax Institute (HTI), among others.
He is a graduate of the New England School of Law, and he holds an LL.M. in estate planning from the University of Miami.
