School Psychological Services Unit engages in strategies and best practices seminar

  • STAFF: Staff of the School Psychological Services Unit of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology participated in a five-day seminar with facilitators, Dr. Rosemarie Allen and Dr. Adam Scheller. The education officers covered topics to enhance their skills at providing support for students with physical, mental and behavioral challenges. Staff at the School Psychological Services Unit of the Ministry of Education recently participated in a seminar to address learning, language, emotional and behavioral disorders among students and effective interventions for students with emotional behavior disorders.

Participants addressed issues impacting students with a view to examining core beliefs and values concerning gender identity, sexual abuse, grief and loss, and substance abuse, in the seminar held under the theme, “Strategies and Best Practices for Improving the Educational Support Services for Inclusive Education.”

The final day ended with a session on building an action plan for schools and or students based on what was learnt during the five-day seminar sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in conjunction with the International Development Bank.

Guest presenters were Dr. Rosemarie Allen, the former associate superintendent of student services and special education in the Dallas Independent School District and a psychologist; Dr. Adam Scheller, a psychologist and certified school psychologist employed as a senior educational consultant with Pearson Clinical Assessment and Andre Banks, the director of implementation for Psychological Software Solutions, Inc.
