Viewers get in-depth look at Central Bank art collection

The Central Bank of The Bahamas Art Gallery will present selected works from its permanent collection as part of this year's 40th Anniversary of Independence Celebration.
As an institution, The Central Bank of The Bahamas has dedicated itself to acquiring works both through its annual competitions (early works by Erica James, Kishan Munroe and John Beadle) and through independent acquisitions (works by R. Brent Malone, Percy ’Vola’ Francis and Maxwell Tayler), with a goal to create a collection that both supports the local art community as well as showcases a small, but thorough, spectrum of creativity in The Bahamas.
“Although artworks rotate frequently within The Central Bank’s offices the general public rarely gets to access the collection in this depth,” said Heino Schmid, curator at the Central Bank Art Gallery.
“So it is with great pride that the Central Bank of The Bahamas is able to publically participate in the cultural conversation during this year’s memorable 40th Anniversary of Independence with the selected works in this exhibition.”
