Open houses: A popular new sales tool
Published: Jul 22, 2013
Open houses have become the latest trend amongst real estate agents in The Bahamas and are proving to be an excellent sales tool. For years, open houses have been very popular in the U.S. and Canada and, lately, they have also become very popular in The Bahamas.
Most open houses in New Providence are considered to be broker’s open houses and are strictly targeted, via invitations, at members of the Bahamas Real Estate Association.
Real estate agents are beginning to recognize the importance of involving as many agents as possible from different real estate companies to help in the sales process. These open houses will not only help promote and expose your home to other agents who may be working with qualified buyers but will also generate unbiased – or at least less biased – information about the property.
For example, other agents will be in a position to offer you and your agent their professional feedback as to how well the home is priced in relation to other homes listed for sale in New Providence.
The seller of a home does not have much to worry about when it comes to organizing an open house, he or she should allow the listing agent to take care of all the details regarding the event.
I do recommend before the event, for the owner to make sure the house is in pristine showing condition and that he/she leave the premises for the duration of the open house, which is usually between three to four hours.
There are probably around 10 to 15 open houses being held throughout New Providence on a monthly basis by several different companies and agents.
If you are interested in attending these open houses, contact your licensed real estate agent who will be happy to assist you with a list of dates and locations of open houses in your price range for you and him/her to attend.
