Young Bahamian cyclist Jay Major is currently competing at the 45th Tour de l'Abitibi Desjardins, a stage cycle race in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, an area located in northwestern Québec (Canada).

The cycling event is reserved for racers aged 17 and 18.

Sanctioned by the International Cycling Union (UCI), the Tour de l'Abitibi Desjardins is an international road racing competition in the men’s junior category.

It is the only competition of that scope in North America and is one of the most important junior competitions in the region because of the sporting challenge to be met by cyclists seeking professional status.

The event usually accommodates about 160 racers. Up to press time yesterday, Major was sitting in fourth place in the competition.
