The Nelson A. Ranger Junior Golf Camps & Scholarship Fund will host its 2nd Annual Nelson A. Ranger 2 Man Scramble, on Saturday August 10, at Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma with a shot gun start at 10:15 a.m. Money raised from this fund-raising event, along with donations, will be awarded to an Exumian college bound student. The scholarship is in memory of Andrew and Kerry Bowe (both deceased), who were instrumental in exposing Nelson Ranger to the game of golf 27 years ago. That opportunity opened doors for Ranger to an academic scholarship from the University of California and the San Diego Golf Academy. Ranger also received financial assistance from the Lyford Cay Foundation and the Bahamas Golf Federation (BGF), and this fund-raising golf exhibition is his way of giving back. Last year at the inaugural event, four partial scholarships were awarded. To be eligible for the scholarship, each candidate would have to maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA). The initial four recipients were Ximora Adderley Bethune-Cookman University), O'Clea Thomas (College of The Bahamas), and Netia and Metia McIntosh (University of Shanghai, China).
