A Bahamian judo team, consisting of athletes who train in New Providence and Abaco, recently returned from a regional judo tournament with 10 medals. Over 20 countries and 600 athletes competed in the tournament. Cynthia Rahming led the charge with a gold medal in the Golden Score division and a bronze in her weight category. Lyle Sherman won a silver in the Golden Score division and another silver in his weight category. Elaina Cuffy brought home a silver in Golden Score and a bronze in her weight category. Tajaro Hudson won a bronze in the Golden Score division. Rebecca Strachan won a silver in the Golden Score division. Dre Hall captured a bronze in his weight division. Ethan Cuffy won a bronze in his weight division. According to reports, other team members also fought well and represented the country well. Jevon Stuart and Artio McPhee lost in the medal rounds. The Bahamas Judo Federation (BJF) is now preparing to send three athletes to the World Cadet (15-18) Championships, which will be held August 9-10. This is a qualifier for the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, in 2014.
