Dear Editor,

The speaker of the House of Assembly needs to inform the public of the new rules of the House of Assembly, which permit members of Parliament, protected by parliamentary immunity, to refer to a private citizen as “a many headed dragon” who should crawl under a rock and to another as “a murderer” notwithstanding that three murder trials have failed to find anyone accountable for the murder in question.

The speaker of the House of Assembly must have been asleep during Monday’s sitting of the House of Assembly because not a single news media firm recorded any action by him to require the offending members to withdraw cowardly offensive and libelous remarks protected by privilege.

This government is not only a threat to our democracy. I fear they are destroying it.

– Kirkland Turner
