Condolences poured in to The Nassau Guardian’s Sports Desk for the late Errol Bodie yesterday. Bodie, who died on Monday night, was a noted track and field coach for a number of years in this country.

Bahamas Olympic Committee

The president, secretary general and all of the officers and members of the Bahamas Olympic Committee (BOC) join the broader sporting community of Grand Bahama and The Bahamas in general, in mourning the passing of Coach Errol Bodie. It was with deep sadness that we learned that Coach Bodie succumbed after a long illness. The BOC extends deep condolences to Coach Bodie’s family and the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) on the passing of this distinguished member of The Bahamas’ Sports Hall of Fame. His was an outstanding contribution to the development of sports and athletics in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

Gregory Christie Grand Bahama Sports Council

On the passing of Errol Bodie, the sporting community in The Bahamas, particularly that of Grand Bahama and the Grand Bahama Sports Council, offers its deepest sympathy to his wife Cecile, children Clifford and Mia and the rest of his family. We awoke to the sad news of the passing of an icon in the coaching arena, of track and field fame. Errol was challenged by health issues in recent times, but the news of his passing still struck home to many stalwarts of the sporting fraternity. On behalf of the Grand Bahama Sports Council, officers current and past, its member bodies and the many lives he modeled and positively influenced, I extend our deepest sympathy to his family. We pray that no matter what situation you find yourselves in during these difficult times, know that, beyond the shadow of doubt, it is one in which you can thrive. All you need to do is make that choice; cling to God and to His word and choose life’s blessings. As we go through life, people who come into our lives, some, the good people, give happiness; the bad people give experiences; the worst ones give you lessons and the best people, they give you memories. Errol gave us many memories. May his soul rest in peace.
