The following is note of condolence from BAAA President Mike Sands on the passing of legendary sports contributor Basil Neymour.

Less than 48 hours after the internment of arguably one of our most successful coaches Errol Bodie, another link in the track and field family has been broken with the passing of another one of our sporting giants. It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Mr. Basil Neymour.

On behalf of the executives of the Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA) and the track and field fraternity, we, once again, extend our profound condolences to the bereaved families. The recent deaths of our 'family members' however should remind us all of the Biblical verse that states, "In the midst of life, we are in death.”

We are all aware of the many contributions that each one of these 'giants' made to the positive development of our beloved sport, so much so that to a great extent, sports and in particular track and field, was their other family.

May the good they did and attempted to do speak for them and may their warrior souls rest in peace.
