A mother accused of assaulting an Anatol Rodger’s High School teacher pleaded not guilty in a magistrate’s court yesterday.

Angela Smith, 53, was arraigned before Magistrate Guillimina Archer.  She was charged with assaulting Erin Swain on Faith Avenue on October 1.

The incident allegedly took place at the school, where Smith’s son, a special needs child, attended at the time.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Timothy Saunders did not object to bail.

Smith was granted $3,000 bail with one surety.

Smith’s daughter and 17-year-old son, who is reportedly a non-verbal autistic, waited outside the courtroom during the arraignment.

The Nassau Guardian understands Smith adopted the now teenager when he was a child.

Attorney Julika Thompson represents the accused.

The trial begins on December 11.
