One of the country’s leading accounting firms has seen a gradual increase in its talent pool as it looks to grow its book of business.
Ernst & Young (EY) ranked the world’s most attractive professional services employer and the most attractive employer according to a recent survey conducted by Universum, an international company that specializes in the field of employer branding.
The firm’s managing partner for The Bahamas, Michele Thompson, said this latest accomplishment is a testament to the fact that EY remains committed to recruiting and retaining top talent in the industry.
“We have been constantly adding to our talent pool over the past few years. It’s a great morale boost for our staff and something that we are very proud of. We go through great lengths at Ernst and Young locally and globally to recruit and retain top talent. That has always been one of our primary focuses and goals,” she told Guardian Business.
Currently, EY has 50 employees in its local office. While there has been an increase in those numbers recently, Thompson did admit that the firm suffered a decrease in staffing within the last five years.
“Through our regional practice, [which includes offices in The Bahamas, Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands], we have been able to sustain good business, and we continue to look for opportunities where we can grow,” she said.
“We had seen a downsize in the talent pool, but now we are on the gradual incline that’s in sync with our business.”
The study was reportedly based on the preferences of nearly 94,000 business students from the world’s top academic institutions in the 12 largest economies by GDP.
“It is such a great achievement because we have such great competitors. So we are very pleased to be ranked the top professional services provider and the second most attractive firm to be employed with,” Thompson added.
EY is a leader in serving the global financial services marketplace providing integrated assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services to its asset management, banking and capital markets and insurance clients.
