Ernst and Young congratulates newly-certified CPAs

Ernst and Young (EY) congratulated four Bahamians who have recently passed their exams to become certified public accountants (CPAs).
The achievements of the young group of EY employees signifies their high level of understanding in the field of accounting, the company said in a release issued last week.
Those being recognized are Kyjia Ferguson, Amalia Pikramenos, Jerome Franks and Kristi Miramontes.
“The CPA designation is a highly regarded credential that attests to an individual’s in-depth knowledge of accountancy principles and practices,” said Michele Thompson, country managing partner.
“This is a rigorous exam that requires extreme discipline and focus to prepare for and pass. As a firm, we are proud to support our colleagues in their journey to continue to advance their career paths in the professional services industry.”
Kyjia Ferguson is a senior accountant at EY, where she has worked for the past five years. Ferguson graduated with honors from Jordan Prince Williams High School in Nassau prior to earning her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The College of The Bahamas in 2008, where she graduated with distinction.
Amalia Pikramenos joined EY in January of 2012. She is an alumna of Lyford Cay School and continued her education at the University of South Carolina, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a double major in Accounting and Finance. She also attended the University of Alabama to obtain a Master of Accountancy and graduated in
December of 2011.
Jerome Franks began his career at EY in 2008. He currently works as a senior accountant at the firm and is an active member in the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants. Franks is a 2004 graduate of St. Augustine’s College. He attended Lynchburg College in Virginia where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2008.
Kristi Miramontes currently serves as a senior auditor at EY. She joined the firm in The Bahamas in July 2011 as a staff accountant. Miramontes graduated from Doris Johnson Senior High School with honors in May 2006 after which she attended the College of The Bahamas where she graduated top of her class in May 2011, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Among the rewards she received for her outstanding academic performance was the Ernst & Young Award for accounting as well as the BICA award for accounting excellence.
