Baha Mar has beaten out U.S. and international competitors to win a prestigious award from Travel Weekly for its locally-produced Baha Mar Dream Team campaign highlighting its recent hires.

Sarkis Izmirlian, CEO of Baha Mar, believes that “great people attract great people” and new employees often remark that the campaign is a source of inspiration to pursue a career at the resort.

The Gold Magellan Award, judged by a panel of top travel professionals who are amongst the most accomplished leaders from the industry, is the premier rewards program honoring a broad range of industry segments including hotels and resorts, travel destinations and airlines and airports.

“The winners are not just the most talented and creative people in the travel industry, they are among the most creative and talented of any industry,” said Arnie Weissmann, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly.

“Baha Mar has done what no one has ever done before. They feature dynamic, articulate Bahamians – dreadlocks and all – and call them their Dream Team,” said Obie Wilchcombe, minister of tourism. “This campaign shows the world that we are passionate about sharing our culture and that we are capable of being the best in the hospitality industry.”
