Police arrested a man suspected of committing armed robbery after he was caught and subdued by residents who allegedly witnessed the crime.

Police said the suspect, a 20-year-old man of Union Village, approached and robbed a man at knife point in Churchill Subdivision off Solider Road at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

However, area residents who reportedly saw the crime “sprang into action and detained the suspect” police said.

The suspect was then turned over to police.

“The Royal Bahamas Police Force takes the opportunity to thank the members of the general public for their continued cooperation and support,” police said.
