A man is in hospital after being shot by police officers responding to an attempted armed robbery.
Police said that shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday a woman reported that a man armed with a shotgun entered her Market Street convenience store and robbed her of cash before fleeing on foot.
A short while later police on patrol said they saw a man they believed to be the suspect armed with a shotgun in the area attempting to rob another man of his Mitsubishi vehicle.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force said the officers, acting to defend their lives, shot the suspect and recovered a shotgun along with suspected stolen cash.
The suspect was listed in stable condition under heavy police guard.
