FNM Women's Association to install 2007-2009 officer corps The Women's Association of the Free National Movement will hold its installation of 2007-2009 officers this Sunday, December 9 during a gala luncheon at the Royal Bahamian Sandals Resort on Cable Beach, beginning at 2 p.m. The luncheon will be held under the patronage of the Leader of the FNM, Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham and Mrs. Delores Ingraham; and the Party Leader will conduct the installations. The outgoing president of the FNM Women's Association is Ms. Caron Shepherd, daughter of the late Member of Parliament and FNM Meritorious Council Member James Shepherd; and the incoming president is Ms. Elizabeth Thompson, former Registrar General of The Bahamas. Prior to the luncheon, the Prime Minister will lead a contingent of parliamentarians, party officers and FNM members and supporters at a special worship service to be held at the Remnant Tabernacle of Praise on Carmichael Road, where the pastor is the Rev. Dr. Kendal Stubbs. The FNM has invited all FNMs and other members of the public to join in that service of thanksgiving for the work and witness of the Women's Association in the Party and around the community. Through the years, past presidents of the FNM Women's Association have included such persons as Mrs. Janet Bostwick, the first Bahamian woman to be elected to Parliament, and also served as a Cabinet Minister in the first FNM Government in 1992; former St. Margaret's MP Sylvia Scriven and former Fox Hill MP Juanianne Dorsett. Tickets for the Installation luncheon may be obtained from members of the Women's Association or from FNM Headquarters, Mackey Street. |
