      Decomposing body found

By JASMIN BONIMY ~ NG Staff Reporter ~ jasmin@nasguard.com:

Police made a gruesome discovery on Saturday after the badly decomposed body of a Caucasian woman was found discarded in a plastic bag just off Fox Hill Road.

According to Police, a passerby who was walking south on Fox Hill Road just past Her Majesty's Prison, discovered the woman's body around 6 p.m. on Saturday and alerted police.

When officers arrived on the scene, police said they met a foul odor coming from the bag that was in clear view of passing motorists and pedestrians.

After securing the area, investigators unwrapped the large plastic bag and discovered the decomposing body of a Caucasian woman wrapped in a bed sheet.

Police also said given the public location of the body, investigators believe she was killed and then initially stored at a different location before recently being dumped just off Fox Hill Road where she was eventually found.

Up to press time last night, police said they could give few details on the woman's identity or injuries.

While they said they could not determine the cause of the woman's death until an autopsy is performed, Police said she had one distinctive mark - a tattoo on her lower back.

As police are following very few leads in the case, they are asking for the public's help in identifying the woman.

Anyone having any information on this case is asked to call police at 911, 919, or 328-TIPS.

This is the second time in less than a week that officers in New Providence discovered a decomposing body.

The decomposing body of a man was found in bushes off Skyline Drive on Thursday morning. Police at the scene said a report of a foul odor drew officers to the area around 10 a.m. that morning.

Officers said they found the body behind bushes just feet away from the road, hidden behind a shallow embankment and a wall of leaves and dense shrubbery. According to police, initial investigations indicate there was no foul play in the man's death.
