Share the love

By CHAKARA BENNETT ~ Guardian Intern:

Love is definitely in the air this weekend and you can find out just where it's coming from. This weekend the internationally acclaimed Beres Hammond, Buju Banton and Tarrus Riley will be setting the island ablaze at their big "Night of Love Concert" this Saturday.

This event comes in celebration of Above the Rim Productions' 25th anniversary of establishment and in sharing their excitement this special night of love is for you.

"This kind of concert is what we really need" says Janet Johnson, 34. "It's timely especially with all this crime. We need some love being shared around here. Too many songs about killing and shooting, causing our children to kill and shoot. So I am happy that we are sharing some love this weekend. I love me a little Buju and a lot of Beres so I know this will be a great event."

But this weekend can't start off right without the appropriate welcoming party. So, Friday is an all-Bahamian Love-Fest that will feature popular artists who will take the stage and keep it blazing all night long. These Bahamian all-stars will include favorites like KB, Geno D, Ronnie, Avvy, Funky D, Elon Moxey, Stileet, Ancient Man and Sid, who will just get you in the mood with their popular jams. And you can't forget the ladies who will be bringing the fire to this party: Spice, Nita, Terez and Barbara.

Of course. a party isn't a party without Visage who will be doing their thing and keeping you on your feet all night.

And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, the main event is yet to come. On Saturday, the real night of love will begin. You will be serenaded all night by the sensual vocals of the one and only Sammi Starr and Najie Dunn.

And to make this pot sweeter the musically sensational Beres Hammond will also be headlining. But that's not all, international stars, Buju Banton and Tarrus Riley will also be taking the stage and showing some love as they sing some of their latest or most popular hits. So you definitely don't want to miss this.

"I am so excited about this event," says Tiara Miller, 26. "I know Above the Rim does a good show and so I know this will be off-the-chain. Friday I will be supporting my people and jamming to some real live Bahamian music and then Saturday, my girls and I will be front row to see Beres, Buju and Sammi. I have looked forward to this for so long. This is going to be hot!"
