Tia Johnson and the levels one through 12 students of Virtue Dance Academy will bring to the stage "Diary of a Bitter Mother-in-law" for its spring production season.
"Diary of a Bitter Mother-in-law" is the fifth episode in the series "Dance Of The Scrolls", a God-inspired creation of Virtue of Dance Academy founder/director Marilyn T. Deveaux. Many people are familiar with the redemptive, romantic story of Ruth and Boaz, and its parallel to the love story of God and mankind via the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus, His Son.
Deveaux and her dancers have decided to portray this story from the perspective of Naomi, the major character in this story, without whom the Gentile bride Ruth would not have met Boaz.
This story has many parallels which they intend to bring forth on stage to audiences, as the story unfolds through dance and drama.
Two performances are scheduled for Saturday, June 20 at the Holy Trinity Activity Centre in Stapledon Gardens with a matinee at 3 p.m. for children and groups. The prime time performance is scheduled for 8 p.m.
Tickets for the matinee are priced at at $15 for all ages. Groups of five are eligible for a discounted price of $10 per person, with a further discount to $8 if bookings are made in advance. Tickets are available from parents of students at Virtue Dance Academy and various Christian bookstores outlets, or telephone 380-8027.
Groups of 40 or more children/youth will get one free DVD of the production, according to Deveaux.
