Archdiocesan Catholic Women's Auxiliary heads into its first convention

It could not have come at a more timely moment but the Archdiocesan Catholic Women's Auxiliary will host its first women's convention under the theme "Catholic Women in Prayer: Celebrating a Year of Favor from the Lord." The convention will be held at SuperClubs Breezes, West Bay Street, starting on January 28 and will run through January 31.

The first day of the convention on Thursday will see the registration of delegates from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and a Mass at 9 a.m. on Friday January 29, followed by the official opening.

Highlights of Friday's events includes addresses from attorney Lisa Wright, Senator Jacinta Higgs and Ministry of National Security permanent secretary A. Missouri Sherman-Peter. The session will end with a report from Mrs. Verdell Williams, the Archdiocesan president. A welcome reception, at which the National Children's Choir and the Archdiocesan Children's Choir will perform will close the day.

On Saturday, January 30, beginning at 9 a.m., Claudette Rolle, director of Catholic Education; Greta Smith, a retired educator, and banker Deborah Woods will address the convention.

A banquet under the patronage of His Grace Archbishop Patrick C. Pinder will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 7 p.m. at SuperClubs Breezes with entertainment by the Defence Force Pop Band.

The convention will culminate on Sunday, January 31 with the women marching from St Joseph Catholic Church, Boyd Road at 2 p.m., to St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, West Hill Street, where a closing mass will be held.
