A sense of urgency

I remember very well an occasion back in the late sixties, when I had just joined my mentor Earl Nightingale's organization The Nightingale-Conant Corporation of Chicago; when I was giving a whole lot of talks on the subject of 'Motivation' to leading service clubs throughout The Bahamas. On one occasion when I was addressing The Rotary Club of Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama, after my talk The President of The Bahamas Oil Refining Corporation, known as BORCO approached me. He asked me if I could visit with him the next day as he wished to discuss the matter of staff motivation at

his company.

The next day, as I sat in his office, I learnt that he had just recently come to The Bahamas, where things are rather 'Laid Back', for want of a better term, and he was appalled at the way in which so many of his

employees approached their work. He said to me "How do I get my workers to have 'A Sense of Urgency'?".

Well to cut a long story short, I ended up facilitating quite a lot of seminars for this organization, which hopefully motivated members of their staff to the point where they did indeed have 'A sense of Urgency', to do things right, which in turn would assist them in achieving, not only the company's objectives, but also their own personal goals in life. Yes indeed, we all need to have 'A sense of Urgency' as we travel the never-ending road to success toward our ultimate destination, which is of course perfection.

Now My Friend, here's an important question for you. Do you have 'A sense of urgency?'. I sincerely hope that the answer to that question was in the affirmative. However, if per chance it's not, you need to sit down somewhere in a quiet spot and set some meaningful goals and objectives, for all areas

of your life. Once you have completed this most important task, I honestly believe, that as you commence the process of finalizing details plans, to assist you in actually achieving the goals which you have established for yourself; you'll experience a whole new feeling of excitement in your life

and affairs, which in turn will develop within your consciousness 'A Sense of Urgency'. This 'Sense of urgency' will assist you greatly in making your cherished dreams come true. Yes indeed, only when a person has a very definite purpose, when they know in a very clear cut way exactly where they're going in life, will their life actually take on a brand new meaning, which in turn will trigger within the person 'A Sense of Urgency'.
