"This should be very exciting and different for our guests and locals who may come," said Angela Brown, the resort's day cook. "Cynthia is amazing and her voice is incredible. I would compare her range and quality to Celine Dion's maybe — but she sings jazz songs though. She always blows me away.

"She was the obvious choice for the anniversary concert not only because of her great talent but because she is a daughter of the soil and she was here since Sammy T's opened. Every time she comes home she comes by. She's like family and I am sure she won't disappoint."

Proprietor Samuel Thurston dreamed of opening the current establishment since his boyhood days, and he didn't want the resort to be just anywhere. He wanted to return home and give back something good for people to look forward to, that would attract visitors to the island.
