2005 MINISTER'S CUP Peter Blair

This year's recipient of the Minister's Cup is Peter Blair, a young Bahamian who has distinguished himself in every phase of his academic career. Born on the 17th January 1985 in Nassau, Peter was always an exceptional child. From the age of 7 years old, then a student of Oakes Field Primary School, Peter and his brothers would sell fruits and vegetables in the straw market on weekends. During the summer months he would sell cookies to assist his mother, as well as to help pay for his school supplies.

After attending the Government High School for a perid, he was awarded an academic scholarship to attend St. Andrew's High school from 1998-2001. Continuing on his journey of excellence, Peter received numerous awards and honours including Math champion, House Captain, Best Debater, Best National BJC results, Principal's List and Gentleman of the Year 2001.

Peter went on to not only obtain an SAT score of 1480, but also 7A's and 2B's in the BGCSE national examinations. He graduated from St. Andrew's with a 3.93 GPA as the 2001 valedictorian. The culmination of his secondary school career was being named the prestigious 2001 All-Bahamas Merit Scholar of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.

At the College of The Bahamas, Peter majored in Mathematics and Physics. After one year, in 2002, he left the College with a 4.0 Cumulative GPA and received the President's Award for the Highest GPA at the College. As an all- around student, he participated in the college's concert and Marching band, was a peer tutor and worked in the media department at his church.

Peter currently attends Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, USA. He is President and founder of Duke's Recreational Tennis Club, speaks French, and is a photographer and guest columnist of Duke's Chronicle Newspaper. He is also a flautist, a peer tutor, and a resident advisor at Duke. And if that isn't enough, Peter is still able to maintain a 3.82 cumulative GPA with a double major in Physics and Mathematics and a Minor in French.
