Senior Tennis Nationals this weekend John Antonas is expected to defend his title in the men's 35 and 45 singles at the Senior Tennis Nationals which gets underway on Saturday at the Gym Tennis Club.
Competition will be held in eight categories, men's singles in over 35, 45 and 55 years, men's doubles in over 35, 45 and 55 years and ladies over 35 singles and over 35 mixed doubles. Michael Isaacs, an incumbent triple winner has won the over 55 singles, over 45 doubles with Leo Rolle and the over 55 doubles with Mike Lightbourne. Julie Arthur is the defending champion in the ladies over 35 singles while the veteran pair of Gerry Kanuka and Jane Wiberg look to repeat as mixed doubles champions. This will be the last opportunity of the year for the older players to compete against their age-group peers and vie for the title of national champion.
