Debbie wins in Croatia

Debbie Ferguson won the women's 100 metres in 11.26 seconds on Thursday in Zagr-eb, Croatia.

She beat Belgium's Kim Gevaert who clocked 11.31 seconds and American Virgi-nia Powell who touched the line in 11.35 seconds.

Ferguson who also contested the 200 metres recorded a second place showing in 22.97 seconds for two good performances recently that she could be pleased with.

She was beaten to the line by American Stephanie Durst who clocked 22.05 seconds, but reached ahead of Russian Anastasiya Kapachinskaya. Eleuthera native Christopher Brown who had a lane in the men's 400 metres was a no show at the event.

On the day before, 400 metres runner Christine Amertil ran in Roverto, Italy, and ran in heat two of three in the women's 200 metres in 23.50 seconds.
